Ensuring quality education and holistic development through targeted programs.
Husn Afroz Memorial Trust (HAMT) is a Not-for-Profit organization established in 2008 with the overarching vision of strengthening human development with focus on education initially in and around Khairpur Mir’s, Sindh, Pakistan.
HAMT operates as a family Trust, driven by a strong vision to empower underprivileged communities through a range of support activities. The Trust focuses on addressing critical gaps in the public school system and has by now initiated multiple initiatives for strengthening various parameters of quality education. In this context, the Trust supported underprivileged families and provided scholarships for their children’s education in the initial phase beginning from 2008 to 2015 and subsequently these
children were streamlined into regular public schools.
HAMT presently supports public schools in the district under the Government of Sindh’s, “Adopt a School’ policy, under which the school remains a property of the Government of Sindh, the Sindh Education Foundation, an autonomous body of the Government provides coordination, and the Adopter undertakes miscellaneous activities towards the broad objectives of improving access and quality of
education.
HAMT adopted 6 public schools in the Khairpur City in 2013. All the 6 schools were primary having run down infrastructure and extremely low enrolments. In the last 12 years or so, HAMT has facilitated upgradation of two schools to High school level, raised the enrolment to three times and continues to work on school strengthening through a dedicated institutional mechanism and a proper documented budget.
HAMT continues to support these 6 public schools through multiple interventions at improving the overall learning environment including provision of missing components such as teachers, learning resources, furniture, fixtures, libraries, library books etc. HAMT is committed to support human resource development and the current focus is on strengthening learning outcomes in public schools through partnership modality.
Through the Government of Sindh’s Adopt-a-School Program, HAMT has formally adopted six government schools in the Khairpur Mir’s area, comprising both primary and high schools. This adoption entails a long-term commitment to improving each school’s educational environment and overall academic performance.
In today’s technology-driven world, digital literacy is a crucial skill for students. Recognising this, HAMT has established and upgraded computer labs in its adopted schools, ensuring even students in smaller urban areas gain valuable, hands-on experience with technology.
HAMT strongly believes that quality teaching is the cornerstone of a successful education system. To address skill gaps and equip educators with modern pedagogical tools, HAMT conducts regular teacher training sessions and professional development programs.
The KAWISH Program is a special, targeted initiative by HAMT, in collaboration with Girls Rising, a globally recognised organisation that focuses on empowering girls through education. Launched in January 2023, the KAWISH Program addresses gender gaps by creating supportive environments for girls to thrive academically and build leadership skills.
