International Collaboration– With Girls Rising International Organization:
In collaboration with International Girls Rising, an internationally recognized organization, HAMT has
been running a highly successful KAVISH Program. The two-year collaboration between HAMT and Girls Rising Pakistan from Jan 2022- Dec 2024 under the “Kavish Project-for Empowering girls through Education and Story Telling” has been a transformative journey for the girls of Khairpur. With a shared mission to promote girls’ education, leadership, and empowerment, this partnership has significantly
contributed to enhancing learning experiences and social awareness in government schools supported by HAMT.
The Key objectives of the Project were to; i) empower girls with confidence, life skills, and leadership potential; ii) engage with parents, teachers, and communities in supporting girls’ education and iii)introduce science, technology, and creative learning through workshops and co-curricular activities. The project interventions included systematic training sessions for “Life skills and leadership”, for all the girls aged 11–16 across HAMT-supported schools. Topics included self-awareness, decision-making, communication, and gender sensitivity. Under this around 600 students received direct training in small group formats across 4 government schools and 35 teachers received orientation and mentorship support to sustain student engagement.
Kavish conducted community meetups and parental sessions to create awareness about girls’ rights, the
importance of education, and early marriage issues. Over 450 parents were engaged through these sessions, many of whom became active supporters of their daughters’ continued schooling. Educational trips were organized to introduce students to new environments and learning contexts. Destinations included science labs, local museums, and interactive learning spaces. These trips enhanced student motivation and broadened their understanding of possibilities beyond their communities.
The Kavish Project, led jointly by HAMT and Girls Rising Pakistan, has laid a strong foundation for girls’ empowerment in the Khairpur region by way of improved self-confidence and communications across multiple stakeholders from students, teachers, parents and community members. The collaborative efforts have proven that grassroots-level change is possible when schools, communities, and organizations unite for a common cause.
